2 April, 2009
Representatives of the protesting workers and employees of the troubled steel mill “Kremikovtsi” were received at the National Assembly by Chairman Georgi Pirinski on 2 April, 2009.
He assured the attendants at the meeting that he is fully acquainted with the workers’ declaration of March 9, 2009 and on his request the document was sent to every parliamentary group and to the members of the Advisory Council of the National Assembly.
He expressed once again his understanding that “Kremikovtsi” is an important enterprise for the country and that from now on it is important for the parties, i.e. the government and the trade unions to start a constructive dialogue taking into consideration the efforts made by the executive so far.
He made the commitment to work actively to bring the parties together and stressed that it was important for both sides to demonstrate good will.
Mr. Pirinski said that the NA needs more detailed proposals regarding the workers’ social demands in order to consider legislative amendments.
