The Higher Education Act provides for specialists in mathematics and informatics to have priority in admittance to higher education institutions, said the Chairperson of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva at the opening of the 45th Spring Conference of the Union of Mathematicians in Bulgaria.
In her address at the opening of the forum Tsetska Tsacheva congratulated the Union of Mathematicians in Bulgaria on its input to finding and developing young talents in the country in the field of mathematics and informatics. The Chairperson of the National Assembly noted the importance of the system designed by the Bulgarian mathematics community for finding and developing skills and talents. She presented the joint awards of the St. Cyril and St. Methodius International Foundation and UMB to the teachers with the greatest contribution to finding and developing young talents in the field of mathematics and informatics for the year – Diana Danova and Rusko Shikov.
The forum, which is under the auspices of the Chairperson of the National Assembly, will continue until 10 April 2016 in Pleven. The programme includes communications, reports, discussions, presentation of European educational projects, qualification courses for teachers. An academic section of the Student Institute of Mathematics and Informatics is organized, at which students across the country will present the results of their year-round work on projects selected by them, along with the Thirteenth National Exhibition for literature on mathematics, informatics and information technologies.
