The President of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva and the deputies who are on an official visit to China visited the Beijing Language and Study University and attended the opening of the exhibition of Prof. Plamen Legkostup “Impressions of Civilizations” at the university.
The Bulgarian guests were welcomed with a demonstration of a tea ceremony, calligraphy and performances on traditional Chinese musical instruments. The Party Secretary of the Beijing Language and Study University Li Yuming welcomed the delegation and stated that students from 147 countries including Bulgaria studied at the university. A total of 180 Bulgarians have studied Chinese at this university and at present there are four of our countrymen, stated Li Yuming. He pointed out that it was important to promote mutual awareness, cultural and educational exchange between Bulgaria and China as this would build a live bridge between the two countries. We are ready to collaborate with Bulgarian universities and increase the exchange of teachers and students, he specified and added that Bulgarians were welcome to the Beijing Language and Study University.
I am impressed by the scale of this education institution and by the great number of young people it prepares and builds, and they are the ones to build the future of the world, said the President of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva. We are excited because here – in the paintings of Prof. Legkostup we see the shades of our country, we see elements of Bulgarian revival houses which are wonderfully interwoven into purely Chinese symbols, said Tsetska Tsacheva at the opening of the exhibition. This is another proof how close we are and that we should work for being able to communicate more pro-actively through culture and arts, she stated. Today we see the role of the Confucius institutes for promoting the ancient histories of Bulgaria and China and the mutual study of the two languages, pointed out the President of the Bulgarian Parliament.
Later the President of the Bulgarian Parliament Tsetska Tsacheva and the members of the delegation will talk with the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng.
Included in the delegation are the Deputy Presidents of the National Assembly Yanaki Stoilov, Krasimir Karakachanov and Yavor Notev, the Co-chairman of the Friendship Group Bulgaria – China Dimitar Boychev, the members of the Friendship Group Bulgaria – China Dzeyhan Ibryamov, Borislav Milanov and Rosen Petrov, the Chairman of the Defence Committee Miho Mihov, the Deputy Chairperson of the Culture and Media Committee Irena Sokolova and the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova.
