Cooperation in the field of culture and education was the main topic of the meeting of the Deputy President of Parliament Dimitar Glavchev with the President of the Beijing Language and Culture University Prof. Pan Lun.
I am impressed by the activity of your university, which is also known as a small model of the united nations organization, Dimitar Glavchev said at the meeting. The university is a centre of Chinese culture and language and since its establishment till present it has had over 160 000 students from over 300 countries in the world, the Deputy President of the National Assembly added.
Dimitar Glavchev underscored that Sofia University “Sv. Kliment Ohridski”, where a Confucius institute was established, played a leading role in promoting the Chinese language and culture.
Bulgaria and China have traditionally good relations existing not only between parliamentarians and the governments of the two countries, but also between the two peoples, the President of the Beijing Language and Culture University stated. Prof. Pan Lun pointed out that the university had excellent teachers in Bulgarian studies who contributed to a better mutual recognition, to the cultural and educational exchange between Bulgaria and China. He introduced the Deputy President of Parliament to the idea of organising a forum in Bulgaria next year, at which teachers from different universities and specialties were to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations between Bulgaria and China and mutual knowledge of our rich histories and cultures.
